Yes, Indian passport holders need a visa to visit Bali, Indonesia — Bali is not visa-free for Indians. Indian tourists can either get an Indonesia Visa on Arrival after landing or apply online for an Indonesia e-VOA before travel. The Bali visa for Indians is usually valid for 30 days and can be extended once for another 30 days.
Indian travellers must carry a valid passport, return flight ticket, hotel booking, and sufficient funds. Travellers visiting Bali also need to pay the Bali Tourist Levy, which is separate from the Indonesia visa fee.
The best time to visit Bali is from April to October, during the dry season. This is the most suitable time for Indian travellers to enjoy Bali beaches, temples, waterfalls, cafés, rice terraces, and outdoor activities. For the best weather, May to September is ideal — sunny days, less rain, and better conditions for sightseeing, water sports, and honeymoon trips.
The rainy season in Bali is from November to March, but it can still be good for budget travellers who want fewer crowds and better hotel prices.
A Bali trip from India usually costs around ₹60,000 to ₹1,20,000 per person for a 5–6 day holiday, depending on flights, hotel category, season, and itinerary. A budget Bali trip can start from around ₹60,000–₹80,000 per person, while a comfortable honeymoon or family trip may cost around ₹90,000–₹1,50,000 per person.
This cost usually includes flights, hotels, airport transfers, sightseeing, meals, Bali visa, and local travel. Indian tourists also need to pay the Indonesia visa fee and Bali Tourist Levy, which are separate from the main trip cost.
The best way to get around in Bali is by using private drivers, taxis, Grab, Gojek, or scooter rentals. Public transport in Bali is limited, so most Indian travellers prefer private cars or app-based rides for comfort and convenience.
For sightseeing, a private car with driver is the most suitable option, especially for families, couples, and honeymoon travellers. For short distances in areas like Seminyak, Canggu, Ubud, and Kuta, Grab and Gojek are convenient. Scooter rental is also popular, but it is better only for experienced riders because traffic can be busy in tourist areas.
The best area to stay in Bali depends on your travel style. For first-time Indian travellers, Seminyak, Ubud, Canggu, and Nusa Dua are the most popular areas. Seminyak is best for beach clubs, cafés, shopping, and nightlife. Ubud is ideal for nature, rice terraces, temples, waterfalls, and a peaceful Bali experience. Nusa Dua is best for honeymooners, families, luxury resorts, and relaxed beach stays. Canggu suits cafés, surfing, digital nomad vibes, and a younger crowd.
For a balanced Bali trip, many travellers stay 2 nights in Ubud and 2–3 nights in Seminyak, Canggu, or Nusa Dua.
Yes, it is easy to find vegetarian food and Indian food in Bali, especially in popular tourist areas like Ubud, Seminyak, Canggu, Kuta, Nusa Dua, and Sanur. Indian travellers can easily find North Indian, South Indian, Jain, pure vegetarian, and vegan options, plus Indian restaurants across Bali. Many hotels and restaurants also offer vegetarian-friendly meals.
For vegetarian Indian tourists, Bali is a comfortable destination because food options are widely available in most major tourist locations.
